On Sunday, August 29th, 2021 Jonathan George Bovenmyer, at the age of 42 of Ames, IA, lost his courageous battle against Colon Cancer. Jonathan was born in Lansing, Michigan. He would go on to live in Maryland, Iowa, Minnesota, and New York. Jonathan was a person of many passions. His career as a professional culinary chef sparked creativity and joy in his life. He loved music, food, travel, culture, mycology, geology, plants and animals. He was a true Renaissance man. Jonathan was a talented multi-instrumentalist, history buff, extreme hobbyist. He had the kindest heart imaginable and leaves behind a large group of lifelong friends and family.
Jonathan is survived by his beloved wife, Teresa Garcia-Bovenmyer, and their precious pets Rufus & Arlo. Parents Dawn & David Bovenmyer of Ames IA. His eldest brother Daniel Bovenmyer, wife Wendy Bovenmyer and their 4 children Jakob, Evangeline, Annie & Isabella; Brother Peter Bovenmyer, fiance Jean Potocki, children Walker, Errol, Colin and Lou; Sister Miekell Cottonwood, sister in-law Christine Bovenmyer, children Lilly and Maximilian. Sister Rachel White and husband Stephen White, children Leon, Rosanna and Gabriel;. Brothers Andrew Bovenmyer & Matthew Bovenmyer; Mother-in-law María García-Rodon and partner Gordon Schaefering and Buddy. As well as many beloved Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Extended Family.
He goes on to join his much loved and passed family members; Maternal Grandparents George and Marie Knaphus; Paternal Grandparents Leon and Ruth Bovenmyer; Aunt Virginia Biang, Uncle Thomas Raines; Nephew Maxwell Bovenmyer; Sister in-law María Justus and beloved pet Polly Jean.
